MOSAIC
Mosaic is for the student who sees the world through a creative lens. The visual and performing arts, used as a medium for connecting the high school core curriculum, prepare students for college or post-secondary opportunities that showcase a student's artistic talent and abilities.
MOSAIC, The Academy of the Arts at Watsonville High School (WHS) is a Small Learning Community (SLC) for sophomore, junior, and senior year.
MOSAIC is an academy where creativity is used by students to become self-directed learners. With rigorous academics and skill building, students learn to take creative risks and envision greater intellectual promise for their futures. Students will develop abilities to work independently and in teams, communicate and collaborate, increase problem-solving and critical thinking skills through the arts. The MOSAIC art academy is a three-year program featuring an integrated curriculum within the core subjects: English, Science, Social Science, and Art. Interdisciplinary experimentation promotes intellectual growth.
We provide preparatory classes that follow the University of California/ California State University entrance requirements. In addition, students are prepared with a strong foundation for entrance into private or community colleges. We provide creative technical training, as well as access and linkage to related career opportunities. We do this through a universally diverse learning style that bridges the arts with careers.
Our Academy provides a career cluster program. This includes related professional and educational services. Students learn to network and build portfolios. They gain professional experience through internships, visual and performing arts awareness, hands-on practice, and exhibitions.
The Academy also provides motivation, tutorials, and counseling for each student. We are a California Partnership Academy. Together, with all of our resources and experience, we will help students reach their future goals in pursuing higher education and finding successful creative career opportunities
